9/14/26 SBA Meeting

Welcomed the newly elected board members: Doug Williams Jr. (Transfer Representative), Shreemuth Pericherla (1L Section A Representative), Matthew Burris (1L Section B Representative), and Jordan Greenbaum (1L Section C Representative).
Discussed creating a long-term SBA sign for use at tabling events (RSO fairs, Golf Tournament, etc.); Natalie Willis will begin a basic design, and the board will confirm FSU branding guidelines with the Office of Student Advancement.
Discussed pursuing the ABA Law Student Division's Student Bar Association of the Year award; Jordan Greenbaum will look into the application requirements.
Dean's Corner: The Deans are planning a required session for 3Ls on bar application requirements and are gauging how many 3Ls are working during the school year. Parking congestion near the law school continues due to ongoing construction, and the administration is aware and working on solutions. Several maintenance items were flagged, including a flickering light in Room 102, AC issues on the third floor, and a lock issue in the second-floor women's restroom; the vending machines have been fixed.
Med/Law Social (Thursday, September 24, 7–11 PM, VICE Society): Admission sales are underway, with prices increasing September 22. The pre-social fundraiser raised $378. The board is finalizing decorations, a DJ playlist, and food (including Vice's cheesesteaks) in continued coordination with the College of Medicine.
Tailgate (Saturday, October 3, Lot 6): Continued coordinating logistics and supplies (tent, coolers, table) ahead of the game.
Chili Cook-Off (Wednesday, October 7, 5:30–8:30 PM, Goodwood Museums & Gardens): Led by Nathan Sanchez; continued planning attendance, supplies, and food logistics.
Semi-Formal (Saturday, October 10, 6–10 PM, Clyde's): Food provided by Hayward House. The board discussed event themes and decorations, aiming to use existing supplies.
Scarristers (Thursday, October 29, 7–11 PM, Proof): Continued promotional planning, with save-the-date, admission sale, and repost dates set for October.
Barrister's Bowl and the First-Gen/Finals Coffee Social were briefly discussed; dates are still to be determined.
Olivia St. Clair:
Will be unable to attend the Med/Law Social, but will help with banner design and other event logistics.
Looking ahead to the Chili Cook-Off and beginning to plan for supplies and preparation timing.
Joe Years:
Continued the membership sales push.
Event funding proposals are finalized for the semester, with Barristers the only one remaining.
Planning is beginning for the Bowling Social, a Goodies vendor partnership, and a November tabling event for students and professors.
Continued preparations for the Golf Tournament (Friday, January 22, SouthWood).
Summer Forehand:
Welcomed the new board members and added them to SBA communication channels and the shared calendar.
Collected new board members' availability for calendar planning.
Board Photos are scheduled for Tuesday, September 15th, from 12–1 PM.
Established a rotating posting schedule (tracked in the Event Planning document); the next post is a Med/Law Social recap and admission push on September 17th.
Angie Mendez:
Discussed a possible spring flag football event for 3Ls.
Maddie Riscigno:
Continued coordinating Tailgate logistics and supplies.
Nathan Sanchez:
Continued preparing supplies for the Chili Cook-Off, including crockpots and a drink dispenser.
Kiara Videla:
Provided a Pro Bono Chair update: coordinating with Danielle Iacampo on an updated approved-sites list and a possible monthly pro bono newsletter, working with Andrew Otanes on a Veterans Pro Bono Clinic, and continuing to collect photographer quotes for SBA events.
Natalie Willis:
Prepared and shared promotional materials for the Med/Law Social, Tailgate, and Scarristers, including flyers and recap posts.
Continued planning graphics for the Semi-Formal flyer and an upcoming "Meet the Board" post following Board Photos.
Doug Williams Jr.:
Provided an update on Board activities and volunteered to help coordinate the DJ playlist for the Med/Law Social.
Shreemuth Pericherla:

Jordan Greenbaum:
Relayed student interest in a bar review event; noted that SBA is unable to fund it directly but would support a section- or class-led initiative.

Dean’s Corner: Discussed the ongoing dean search, and noted that regular dean meetings with SBA will resume soon. Also flagged a maintenance issue with the cafe microwave.

Discussed pursuing the ABA Law Student Division’s Student Bar Association of the Year award, citing SBA’s strong event turnout, and following up on past award plaques.
Elections Interest Meeting (Wednesday, September 2, 12:30 PM, Room 208): Promotion continues via Instagram and Daily Docket; signature sheets (including transfer rep sheets) are being printed. Presentation materials will be shared with LSC and COGS contacts once finalized. Food pickup assigned to Joe Years and Nathan Sanchez.
Med-Law Social Before the Social (Wednesday, September 2, 6–8 PM, Madison Social): The board is focused on promoting the event and attending.
Elections Town Hall (Tuesday, September 8, 12:30 PM, Room 208): Food pickup assigned to Maddie Riscigno and Joe Years; speeches will be livestreamed.
Board Pictures (proposed for September 11th, with September 18th also discussed): Coordinating board availability before confirming with the FSU Law media team.
Med-Law Social (Thursday, September 24, 7–11 PM, Vice): Theme is set and decorations are being finalized; coordinating catering details before finalizing the venue contract.
Tailgate (Saturday, October 3): Planning is underway with EASL on event logistics; a purchase order is due September 17th.
Chili Cook-Off (Wednesday, October 7, 5:30–8:30 PM): Led by Nathan Sanchez; finalizing graphics, food preparation, and a golf/Masters theme.
Semi-Formal (Saturday, October 10, 6–10 PM, Clyde’s): Finalizing the venue contract and catering menu with Hayward House, an approved vendor.
Scarristers (Thursday, October 29, 7–11 PM, Proof): Finalizing the venue contract, targeted within the next two weeks.
First-Gen Panel: The board discussed whether to hold this event this semester and identified board members who are first-generation students.
Barrister’s Bowl: Discussed a potential flag football event and venue options, with interest in holding it in the spring.
Golf (Friday, January 22, SouthWood): Finalizing the contract; Nathan Sanchez and Joe Years are coordinating, with Natalie Willis assisting on graphics using prior years’ designs as reference. The board wants a schedule and deadlines established.
Barristers (Saturday, April 3, 7–11 PM, Bricks & Brass): Contract is signed; the board discussed creating a shared photo album for a slideshow at the event.

Collecting photos from the Welcome Back Social at Wilbury for a recap post; started a shared photo album for the board to contribute to.
Shared a new Med-Law flyer mockup with Natalie Willis.
Joe Years:
Golf: Contract finalized for January 22nd; will coordinate on sponsorship materials with Nathan Sanchez.
Membership sales are progressing toward the semester goal.

Circulated availability polls to schedule Board Pictures, considering Friday, September 11th and Friday, September 18th.
Angie Mendez:
Spoke with Sports Law about collaborating on a flag football event; following up via email.
Maddie Riscigno:
Provided a tailgate equipment inventory (tents, tables, chairs, coolers, chafing dishes, etc.) and identified additional needs (more coolers, another tent, cornhole, signage).
Discussed lot opening times relative to kickoff, and coordinating with EASL on day-of setup and cleanup responsibilities.
Nathan Sanchez:

Pro Bono Bootcamp went well.
Meeting with Student Advancement to discuss pro bono expectations.
Exploring biweekly pro bono opportunities and partnerships with LSNF and the Legal Aid Foundation, and researching how to join the Tallahassee pro bono committee.
Natalie Willis:
Created and posted flyers and promotional blurbs for the Med-Law pre-social, Tailgate, Chili Cook-Off, and Scarristers events.
Drafted captions for the Welcome Back Social and Pro Bono Boot Camp recap posts.
Created a draft Semi-Formal flyer (subject to change); Barristers flyer due Monday.

Welcome Back Social (Friday, August 21st, 5–8 PM): Led by Olivia St. Clair; check-in shifts were assigned among board members, and the event is expected to draw approximately 170 attendees. Flyers are being distributed across campus.
Discussed theme ideas for upcoming events, including the Med-Law Social, Semi-Formal, and Barristers.
Golf (Friday, January 22, 2027): Logistics leads are Joe Years and Nathan Sanchez. Signage needs to be started soon since printing takes about four days; the board will set deadlines and a planning calendar.
Chili Cook-Off (Wednesday, October 7, 2026): Led by Nathan Sanchez, who is coordinating signage, food, and promotion. Theme is a Masters (golf) theme.
Pro Bono Bootcamp: Led by Kiara Videla. Attendance is at 20 students after two withdrew due to background-check timing; lunch is being arranged for Thursday and Friday. Hours are Thursday–Friday 9:00 AM–5:30 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM–3:30 PM.
Elections Interest Meeting (September 2, 2026): Led by Olivia St. Clair and Olivia C. The presentation slides need updating, and signature sheets for the 2026 Spring Elections are being printed by Angie Mendez. Food is pending approval through the Union Townhall process, with pickup logistics still being finalized.
MedLaw Social Before the Social (September 2, 2026): A fundraiser event led by the Med School.
Elections Town Hall Meeting (September 8, 2026): Led by Olivia St. Clair and Olivia C.; food pickup assigned to Joe Years.
MedLaw (September 24, 2026): Led by Olivia C., Olivia St. Clair, and Angie Mendez. Cheesesteaks will be served, with a 50-item minimum; decor planning is pending theme selection.
Tailgate (Saturday, October 3, 2026): Led by Maddie Riscigno. Location is Lot 6, ahead of the Virginia game; time TBA. The board is coordinating logistics and expectations with EASL.
Semi-Formal (Saturday, October 10, 2026): Led by Olivia C. Location is Clyde’s & Hayward House, with a “night under the stars” theme.
Halloween (Thursday, October 29, 2026): Led by Summer Forehand. The board is finalizing music/entertainment plans and confirming vendor and purchase-order requirements through the school. Decorations will include affordable options such as cobwebs from discount stores.
Barristers (Saturday, April 3rd): The board is finalizing arrangements with Bricks and Brass. Setup will feature standing cocktail tables (10–20), and the outdoor space will include speakers and lawn games. The board is reviewing catering options, which would include DJ speakers, uplighting (dimmable), and centerpieces. Optional add-ons under consideration include a dance floor and photo booth. The DJ will need to bring their own equipment.

Continued push to sell memberships across all class years (1L, 2L, and 3L).
Pro Bono Bootcamp and Elections events are moving forward, with Elections pending funding confirmation from the university.

Tailgate: Coordinating with EASL on logistics; a flyer deadline of September 4th was set.
Halloween: Planning to order pizza (cheese and pepperoni) for the event, with discretion on additional food options. A flyer is needed.
Semi-Formal: Still finalizing food options; the DJ needs a firm date soon to finalize a contract, targeting September 10th. Flyer deadline is September 4th.
Barristers: A flyer without ticket pricing is needed by the end of the week. The Golf contract has been confirmed for Friday, January 22nd; promotional materials will be ready by mid-September.
Chili Cook-Off: Nathan is planning table setup and food for the event.
Summer Forehand:
Pro Bono Bootcamp: Asked that all attendees register on Daily Docket for tracking purposes, and requested photos for future promotional use.

Dean’s Corner: Submitted a preemptive AC repair request for the library; orgs need to inform members that Daily Docket attendance is tracked and used by LSC as funding criteria, so registration is required to receive food at events.
Lockers: 3Ls who graduated still have locker access over the summer; access will be reset for new members at the start of the semester.
The SBA office may be relocating; details still TBD.
The board discussed calendar access and is collecting everyone’s availability to help with event scheduling.
Semi: Potential venues include Clyde’s, Edison, and Monroe’s, still finalizing details. Looking for help reaching out to additional vendors.
Med-Law: Discussing possible dates, working around Recess availability and med school exam schedules. Considering a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday event.
Halloween: Finalizing entertainment plans and considering a theme (med school vs. law school, or a Luau theme) to finalize decor early.
